Abstract
In order to know the distribution of Toxoplasma antibody among Korean swine, authors performer the survey of Toxoplasma antibody by means of hemagglutination tests which were carried out after Hanaki-Nobuto-Sato¢¥s method and Eiken Toxo-Test using lyophilized sensitized red cells. On the other hand, a total number of 50 swine diaphragms was examined by means of mouse peritonea inoculation method in order to find out the infection source of human toxoplasmosis. The result, were as follow:
1) Seventy-one out of 261 samples(27.2%) from Korean swine were positive by Hanaki-NobutoSato¢¥s hemagglutination test. Swine from Cholla Puk Do(41.0%) shows much higher than the swine from Cholla Nam Do(10.3%).
2) Nineteen out of 70 samples(27. 1 %) from swine were positive by Eiken Toxo-Test hemagglutination test. Nine out of 30(30.0%) from Seoul. 3 out of 20(15.0%) from Pusan and 7 out of 20 sample: (35. 0%) from Chun Ju showed positive titers respectively.
3) An isolation of Toxoplasma was attempted in Seoul. A total number of 50 swine diaphragms wa., examined by means of mouse inoculation method. The cysts of Toxoplasma gondii were isolated fron 3 out of 50 samples the detection rate being 6.0%.
